Since we made a video on How to apply for Financial Aid on Coursera? we have been bombarded by a plethora of questions from our beloved subscriber friends. In this article, we have made an attempt to answer to all those questions and common doubts that you people are having.

Please Read the article carefully and in detail I am sure you will get answers to all your doubts.

How long does Coursera take to approve my financial aid?

As per Coursera's official website, it takes 16 days to approve your financial aid. When the course gets approved by them you will get an mail saying that your course has been approved for financial aid.

It's been more than 16 days but I still haven't got the approval mail. What should I do?

You should wait. A couple of times I got the approval mail after 30 days. Also, some of our subscribers have experienced the same.

What if I am applying for a Specialization or Professional Certificate course with several courses in it? Do I need to apply for each of these courses separately or not?

For Specialization/professional certification courses, you need to apply for each course separately.

2024 Update: Please make sure financial aid is available for these courses in the first place. We have observed that many specification courses do not have aid options available.

My Financial Aid Application was rejected what should I do?

if your Financial Aid Application gets rejected you will get a rejection mail, where the reason for rejection will be mentioned. So, in such case, you can re-apply for the financial aid. Please make sure you answer the financial aid questions properly.

Please note: Don't directly copy-paste from the financial aid answers article. Otherwise, you stand a high chance of rejection.

Coursera is asking how much I can pay for the course? What should I write?

Well, this is a relative term. It depends on your financial background. Answer it honestly and tell them how much you can really afford to pay per month, it may be Rs. 100, Rs. 500 or even 0 if you are living in poverty.

How can I contact Coursera about Financial Aid queries? Do you have their number or email for the same?

The Coursera Support team's email is not available publicly, but you can fill out the form at this link and the Coursera financial aid team will contact you via Email. Alternatively, one can also live chat with the support team and get all your doubts cleared.

I only got 90% Financial Aid? What about the remaining 10%? You had told us previously that Financial aid is 100% free and covers the complete fee?

Yes, in a video that I made around 2 years ago on YouTube, I was told it is 100% free, which it was until recently in January 2024 when Coursera decided they would no longer provide complete aid. Now, as per the new financial aid policy, they are providing you with only 90% of the aid, the remaining 10% is what you need to pay.

These are premium courses, so don't get discouraged at least you are getting a 90% discount. If aid was not there majority of the students in India would not be able to do the courses, but thanks to financial aid at least now many can afford them.

For more details read the below interaction on Coursera's community:

In new financial aid, now coursera will cover only 90%, the rest 10% will have to be paid by you?
